USC Intramurals ‘08 Opening
Posted on August 27th, 2008This was supposed to be written yesterday but I thought sira na naman PC namin ‘coz it didn’t log in.
Anyway, yesterday, our school, the University of San Carlos, had the opening of our Intramurals ‘08.
It started early in the morning. We thought we were the only ones who planned to go to the main campus at an early time but it turned out that all Carolinians thought the same way. Hahaha.
When we arrived there, the line at the school entrance was already long! Both sides pa nga eh!
We didn’t have any choice but to wait outside. Good thing some of our friends were already inside the gym. They reserved seats for the five of us (Aimee, Jo, Josef, Jilliand, and I). When we got there, the gym was already almost full! Buti talaga we were able to make our way through the crowd!
The event started with the invocation, the national anthem, and the USC Hymn (which, by the way, almost all of us don’t know how to sing).
Then the Parade of Colors. And Miss Intramurals ‘08 followed! It’s not actually a pageant. The representatives of each college were just taking turns in strutting.
Some really looked funny because of their actions. Hahaha.
Much to everyone’s dismay, the one who won was a representative of the College of Nursing. FYI, kalaban ng lahat ng USC Colleges ang College of Nursing.
Well, for me, I don’t really dislike all Nursing people. Just a few. They’re stereotyped as maarte kasi in our school. But I’m not saying maarte kayong mga Nursing bloggers ha! I have many friends na Nursing students so it’s not really a big deal for me.
The most-awaited part of the opening event was the Cheerdance Competition! To tell you the truth, only 3 of the cheerdance presentations amused me - the ones by the College of Engineering (it’s not bias but real judgement), the College of Architecture and Fine Arts, and the College of Commerce. I was really expecting the three of them to make it to the top. To our dismay again, napasok ang College of Nursing.
Really, their presentation was almost all-stunts! And we hardly understood it. Nagtaka pa talaga kami why they won as 2nd runner-up.
Our college, the College of Engineering, won as 1st runner-up, just like the past years. Well, at least we got something.
As expected, the champion was the College of Commerce. They’re the experts in stunts and exhibitions. No wonder they’ve been the champions for {insert number>1 here} consecutive years.
‘Di nadala yung College of Architecture and Fine Arts. It was kinda annoying talaga. It’s the first time daw na hindi nakapasok sa top yung CAFA. Our friends in the CAFA Cheerdance team cried pa nga eh.
But their presentation was really good! And funny! ‘Di ko lang alam kung anong pumasok sa utak ng mga judges during that time.

My friends and I went back inside the school to change our attire. I was assigned to take charge of the buses. I couldn’t do it alone so I asked my friend Shalee to help me. I was at the first bus, she was at the second. When the buses were already full, we departed at 12:30pm (or something).
I didn’t notice what time we arrived. All I know is that when I got there, I got busy. There was so much to think about since I’m an officer.
